TRENCH COATS

With the winter months limiting our choice of outerwear, it can become a bit tricky to remain stylish when leaving your house in your winter jacket from 3 years ago that’s an absurd color you wouldn’t necessarily go for now. But what does this jacket do? It keeps you warm when the temperatures drop below freezing. However, one way to combat the cold without sacrificing style is with trench coats, and depending on the fabric, these can also keep you extremely warm.

One of my favorite trench coats is this black and white checkered trench coat that my dad actually thrifted for me at Goodwill in Cheshire, CT! The pattern reminds me of a black and white houndstooth print however it is slightly different. These types of trench coats are extremely trendy and are very easy to pair with a white or black turtle neck underneath, and maybe a nice belt with a pair of jeans and booties.

A beige trench coat is another staple that can easily be paired with almost any clothing in your closet. The trench coat down below is made of ethical materials and can be bought from Sézane here. My go to is either a bodysuit or tucked in turtleneck in either a neutral color or wearing a pop of color and trying my best to match my shoes to my shirt. When going for a white shirt under the trench coat, pairing this with denim and some black booties allows for a classic look, similar to the models outfit. Simpler looks are good opportunities to spice up the outfit with different jewelry, fun earrings, thick bracelets, and chunky necklaces.

Woolen trenches are also key pieces when styling outfits in the winter months. These will be sure to keep you warm and I would suggest getting a fun colored coat in this option because I think the neutral colors are best full-length. I like this option by TwoThirds, it is ethically made and the color is unique.

Trench coats are extremely versatile and make you look your best while going anywhere; to work, class, out to dinner, etc. These have only gained popularity since the 60’s and I don’t think they’ll be going anywhere, anytime soon.
