HOW TO FIND AN APARTMENT IN PARIS

I recently signed a lease for a 1 bedroom apartment in Paris and am sharing all my recommendations to make your move a bit easier!

The websites I recommend using are Lodgis, Jinka, SeLoger, PAP, and Paris Attitude. If your budget is not of concern, I would also recommend looking into Blueground. The nicest furnished apartments I’ve seen are through Blueground but they will also cost you a premium because they come with everything you need to move in. I would caution you to stay away from Airbnb unless you’re looking for a short-term stay. Airbnb was by far the most expensive choice so I spent most of my time searching through the other options.

I found my furnished apartment through Lodgis and the process is very simple. You submit your criteria to their staff including the length of stay, budget, area, and the number of bedrooms you’re looking for. They get back to you with a list of available apartments and from there I picked my top three choices and ended up getting my first pick.

Things to be aware of… Some apartments have a maximum length of stay, in my experience, it was ~1 year. These websites will also typically charge an agency fee for finding the apartment for you, typically a few hundred dollars.

Some helpful tips… Make sure your apartment has a washer in the unit. You do not wanna be tugging your dirty clothes across Paris when you realize it’s all dirty at 10pm on a Tuesday night. Something else to keep in mind is that it’s a requirement to have apartment/home insurance when living anywhere in Paris. There are tons of options to get the insurance through but I used Assurimo and it’s about €115 for the year. You should also try to have a guarantor who makes 3-6x the amount of money in rent that you will have to pay. (A guarantor is someone who is financially obligated to make your payments if you are unable to). This substantially increases your chances of getting an apartment.

And lastly, get a ring camera or knockoff version on Amazon (I’ve been robbed before and it’s better to be safe, especially if living alone).

I hope this was helpful and if you have anymore questions reach out to me on Instagram: @yulianatsapar :)
