DAY IN MY LIFE: FASHION INTERN EDITION

Recently I got to live out my dreams of feeling like Anne Hathaway from The Devil Wears Prada. If you haven’t seen that movie, I highly suggest you educate yourself on the lifestyle I’m after.

So what was I doing at 8 am in the lovely city of Manhattan? Well, that’s a good question. And to be completely honest I didn’t really know either. All I knew was that Nova Lorraine (my much nicer version of Meryl Streep, mentor of a fashion designer/author/podcast host/badass) had a rooftop photoshoot for a Raine Magazine editorial and that I was going to be there.

I hopped off the train at Grand Central Terminal and walked a few blocks to the Archer Hotel to start my day off. There I was greeted by the lovely staff who led me to the hotel room. Now I like to say my life is a movie but what came next was genuinely straight out of a movie. I walk into the hotel room to see Marina Micanovic, a designer from Serbia, steaming some of the pieces that were going to be used in the shoot; Nova is getting her glam done in the makeup chair. Minutes later the celebrity photographer we had on set, Vital Agibalow, arrives at the hotel door and lets us know he’s setting up in the rooftop lounge. Suddenly I found myself styling jewelry pieces for each of the outfits that Nova had selected. After jewelry, we made last calls for heels being paired with each look and it was finally time to start the actual photoshoot. We had about 25 minutes to shoot each of the looks, so time management was key throughout the whole day.

Throughout this whole day, there was one moment in particular that I will never forget. At the very end of the day, it was time to carry the dresses back to the car so that they could be dropped off with the Designer. Something about walking down 39th street carrying a huge red, fluffy dress unlocked a memory I had from months prior, where I saw that exact moment. I remember envisioning myself walking in the city, carrying a big designer dress and that dream came true. I swear manifestation is so real and if you choose not to believe it you’re simply missing out on anything and everything you could ever want out of life. Moments like that make me so thankful for the opportunities I attract and all of the wonderful people I get to meet. Another very special moment was when Nova shared with me all that she had manifested and how back then she simply thought it was her intuition. Spending the day in Manhattan made me realize how similar Nova and I really are in our views and I wish that everyone gets to have a mentor they can relate to so well in their lifetime.

From this day I learned that when you have genuine motives and put yourself out there, as a result only good things happen. There’s no reason you shouldn’t be living your best life. You should be applying for that job, or that program, or bettering yourself just for you. Absolutely nothing is stopping you from where you want to be. That right there is the mindset, and you either choose to live it or don’t.
